I initially purchased these sometime last year when I was assembling my survival bag/bug out bag for emergency situations so it sat in my pack for a while. Then I started a new job a month ago and now need to use these every couple of days if not everyday since my coworker’s 2 month old Motorola Talkabout radios crap out on him every time and lose power. He even told me he liked how clear the sound was, the nice big display and the design of it. I already know about the REALISTIC range of most 2 way radios so I’m not disappointed in these. I usually just need to communicate with coworkers on different floors or areas in or around the same building. I haven’t tested how long these can run since I charge them up every couple of days and use varies.
One small issue I might have is that the charging light on the charging pod doesn’t always light up fully for one of the radios. Other times it does. I know its still charging it though because I can see the light illuminating a bit and it works the next day. Worried me a bit upon first couple charges but I’m used to it now.
Also, sometimes not loud enough for me at the highest colume setting of #8. I usually don’t need it too loud since I work in office and dormitory occupied spaces but once in a while I’ll be located right by an air vent/air conditioner or something and I need to hold the speaker right to my ear.
Bottom line: Its dependable and reception is clear.
FYI, just like other 2 way type radios, these can be used with other non Cobra brand radios on the same channel so don’t throw them BOTH out if 1 handset happens to crap out in the future like another reviewer did. Keep that 1 and use it for the weather channel or use it with other hand helds found later on.

VOX

Worked very well at large resort – E. Stephen Gardner –
We purchased two sets of these for a party of 7 going to a large resort in Mexico.
They worked very well up to 3/4 mile even with a few buildings in the way. The kids were easily able to keep in touch and we were always able to locate them.
No compaints whatsoever with the exception that one set initially didn’t work. Amazon took care of it and sent out another set immediately.

So far, So good!!! This is the second set of the Cobra 7200. The first set worked great for about two weeks, then one of them would not come on at all. I contacted Amazon on a Thursday, they sent me a new set which I received in two days on Saturday. They gave me authorization to send the defective back. I packed it in the same box, shipped it, and I am completely satisfied.

I use these type radios throughout our home and when outside as intercom system for around! Motorola is usually the brand I buy but their quality has dropped so I tried these. DON’T BOTHER!!! THESE RADIOS ARE CRAP!
